Beaverbear gets a sweet review!

So as I “googled” the Dublin Flea Market, to see what news there may be for the upcoming one at the end of the month I came across this blogger’s post about their last visit to the market:

It includes a great paragraph about their beaverbear experience and it was a brilliant feeling to see the success of what were having such fun doing We’re waiting to here if we’ve a stall at the next flea so FINGERS CROSSED!!

So us beaverbears packed up our old kit bag and brought our badges to market! …And what a fun day we had

Dublin Flea was a great market to be part of, and we met some really friendly people, both on the stalls and passing by. We met fellow badge lovers and hopefully attracted some new converts to the world of badges! Along with some homemade brownies and buns, which went down a treat, we offered up a big collection of individual badges and some great series’ including very popular Snoopy’s which we salvaged from a Croatian comic We’re definitely going to apply to appear at the market next month, and if anyone couldn’t make it this time, we’d love to see you then…or if you can’t wait that long, we should be able to add some badges to the shop this week!

Why we love badge making!

We were approached by Diane Wisdom of Nuthin’ but Buttons to put together a wholesale bunch of badges that mimic colourful buttons. We were delighted to get involved with this new business who kicked up a storm at some of the markets over christmas. They sell an array of accessories all based on buttons, from rings to hair clips and now badges too!

… thinking about branding …

our simple little stamp

As we’re trying to get involved in markets around Dublin, we’re thinking more about packaging and branding, how we can bring beaverbear throughout all we do…but keeping it low in money cost and low in cost to the environment (we have to try do our bit, we’re not living in a self sustaining straw lined cottage, but we always try our best not do add more waste to the world if we can help it!)

So what we’ve decided to do is get a stamp made up, and we can then stamp anything and everything with our logo and contact info Our presentation booklets will be made from old cereal boxes and we can make them our own with a quick painless STAMP! and we think that it’ll help to keep lovely home made feel to what we’re doing, and have a great texture on the cardboard too

It’s time to bear our badges in public!

Latest Dublin Flea Poster

Us bears went a beavering over to Dublin8 last Sunday to the Dublin Flea Market which is run every last Sunday of the month in the The Co-op Newmarket, just off Cork St.. It was only set up before Christmas, but it seems to have gotten off to a great start, and it was great fun having a rummage around! It also insipred us to try our hand at badge-mongering and we’ve applied for a stall at the next one on the 22th Feb. We’ve our fingers crossed big time, cos we think it’d be a great thing to be inolved in and that we’d create some deadly badges on the day We’re now going to hunt down applications for the Blackrock market, and others in Howth and Dun Laoghaire….we’ll make sure to let you know if we’re successful, and then you can put the dates in your diary to come visit us and create some badges to brighten your day!

Hi everyone,

We’ve been bad bears and neglected keeping you up to date on all the progress of the beaverbear crew and badge innovation that’s been going on since we first launched…but now it’s about time we filled you in on all the fun we’ve been having and show you some snaps of the great badges that have been created since last summer…eek it really has been that long!!

For anyone new to the idea, badge making is our passion and creating individual and exciting snapshots of design and fashion is our big goal With our clunky but wonderful badge maker and piles of magazines ( and new trend, fabrics! ) we slice up re-cycled and unique badges to adorn cardigans to coats, jumpers to jump suits, shoes to shirts…anywhere you can hook a badge is a good place to advertise your loves, dislikes, or just a pretty picture! You can use our flare to show your flair! (just like Jennifer Aniston in Office Space )

So keep an eye out from now on for news updates that will be added over the coming weeks, and don’t forget to get in touch with any badge requests you might have, if you send us the pic and your postal address we can get the ball rolling!!

Collaboration with artist Michelle Considine…

When Michelle told us that she had created some tiny 1inch drawings and that she’d hoped to make badges with them we jumped at the chance to help that wish come true! We really believe that these are some of the best badges we have seen created since we started out and after making this limited collection we really hope to collaborate with Michelle and other local artists again

what a great success!

…Who took part during their lunch the other day, we had great fun and some brilliant badges came out of the event ( it think the sugar buzz of the smarties helped too ). Niamh and Claude both made presents for their little nieces and cousins and it’s made us think that making badges for birthday parties could be a fun adventure too! It was great to have such enthusiastic feedback and to see how you all enjoy the badge making as much as we do…

Let’s hope we can arrange another EXTRAVAGANZA soon

Great news for beaverbear fans in McCabe Design, who have been invited to take part in a badge making extravaganza no less!! We’re all geared up and ready to go, and may even be bringing along a few sweeties to help encourage creativity We look forward to posting up the photo’s in the next few days!

Radiohead?….Badged :)

You’ll have to take our word for it but we had a great day making and selling badges at the pre-radiohead concert bbq in malahide. We sold over a hundred badges of all types, radiohead themed ones and a whole range of quriky cuts from magazines we brought.

As was expected we part-took in all the celebrations ourselves and found ourselves covered head to toe in badges and more than tipsey too. So the photographs were forgotten and all we have to remember the day are blurred memories (happy ones at that) and an even bigger personal collection of badges. The blured and hazy pictures included sort of somes up the way everything looked and captures that day, but trust us we were there and it was a red letter day for beaverbear so misson accomplished
